Why Is My Check Engine Light On?
One of the biggest hassles of owning a car can be the check engine light. It seems to come on at the worst times and you can never be sure exactly what it means for your vehicle. If you’ve ever had it come on in your car, you know it can sometimes be a stressful experience. Rest assured, the service experts at Peruzzi Mitsubishi can fix any issue with your vehicle, no matter the severity. Here are the most common issues for which the check engine light might come on.
Gas Cap Problems
A gas cap that is loose, missing, or broken might cause your check engine light to come on. This could cause fuel vapors to leak and an incorrect balance of pressure within the engine. This problem is relatively easy to diagnose and we can fix it for you and get you on your way quickly.
Malfunctioning Oxygen Sensor
The oxygen sensor measures how much unburned oxygen flows through the engine. If this sensor is not functioning properly, it can cause you to burn 40% more gas than your vehicle really needs. Your spark plugs could also suffer damage.
Your Catalytic Converter Needs Replacing
The catalytic converter takes your vehicle’s harmful carbon monoxide emissions and changes them into carbon dioxide. If there’s a malfunction in your cat converter, you will probably notice a decrease in your vehicle’s performance and an increase in its running temperature. This will also cause you to fail an emissions test and your state inspection.
The Mass Airflow Sensor is Not Working
The mass airflow sensor measures the air going into your engine and adjusts your fuel consumption accordingly. It’s a necessary part to ensure that your vehicle runs at peak performance. When it malfunctions, your car will use more gas and it can have a negative effect on everything from your spark plugs to your catalytic converter.
There are many different reasons why your check engine light may have come on. None of these issues are minor enough to be ignored and the check engine light will prevent you from passing your inspection. Stop in to Peruzzi Mitsubishi’s service center in Fairless Hills, PA and we can diagnose your check engine light issue and have you on your way as quickly as possible. While you’re here, check out our full lineup of over 180 new vehicles including the Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi Mirage, and Mitsubishi Lancer. The Advantages of Asking for a CARFAX Report
Buying pre-owned might be the best way to get yourself into a great car for less money, but you should always consider the risks involved before making this decision. Some pre-owned cars have suffered significant damage that can cost you more money in the long run, while others might actually have more mileage than you’d expect. To most effectively navigate these risks and get the most for your money, you should always get a Carfax report of the vehicle you’re interested in buying.
There are many advantages to receiving a Carfax report. On the most basic level, a Carfax report can confirm the vehicle’s VIN, year, make, and model, to assure that you’re actually being sold the right car. The report can also inform you of the vehicle’s true mileage and any damage in the vehicle’s past, including flood damage, fire damage, and accidents. The more wear and tear you find in the report, the less you should be paying, so Carfax can help you determine the honest value of the vehicle.
A Carfax report can also inform you of any repairs that have been made on a vehicle. While occasional repairs aren’t necessarily a bad thing, frequent repairs for the same problem can be a red flag. It’s also beneficial to know how many previous owners the car has had – just one is obviously the most preferable, but a high number of previous owners over a relatively short period of time could be an indication that this car is more of a problem than it’s worth.
At Peruzzi Mitsubishi, you never need to worry about purchasing a pre-owned vehicle with a troubled past. In fact, most of our pre-owned inventory consists of Carfax 1 Owners, which means that they’ve had just one previous owner and are in top condition. It’s as close to new as you can get while still buying used! Stop by Peruzzi Mitsubishi today and check out our pre-owned inventory for yourself.
How Often Should You Service Your Car?
Maintaining your car can often be expensive, time-consuming, and just plain inconvenient, which is why so many drivers tend to put off general service. Every 12 months or 12,000 miles, you should check:
- Brakes

Comparing Trim Levels for the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage
It should come as no surprise that the Mirage is one of Mitsubishi’s most popular models. It’s an extremely affordable and fun-to-drive hatchback, and is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid vehicle on the market. Mitsubishi offers three trim levels for the 2017 Mirage: ES, SE, and GT. Let’s take a look into the specific features of these three versions and how they compare to one another.
The most basic trim level offered for the 2017 Mirage is ES. For safety features on a 2017 Mirage ES you get a child seat LATCH system, stability and traction control, dual front airbags, driver knee airbags, front side airbags, and front/rear side curtain airbags. The car’s audio system consists of a USB auxiliary audio input, a CD player, and an MP3 player. Convenience features include a multi-function remote with keyless entry, fuel filler control, panic alarm, and removable valet key.
The next trim level up from the Mirage ES is SE, which features an impressive number of upgrades from the ES model. On the entertainment side, the SE includes both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. The air conditioning system features automatic climate control, and the safety features have been enhanced with a rearview camera. Convenience features have also been upgraded, with cruise control, remote start, and steering wheel mounted controls included.
The GT is the top trim level available for the Mirage, with some subtle yet very important differences from the SE model. The front headlights feature more advanced automatic sensing, while both the driver and front passenger seats are heated. The car rides on 15” alloy wheels, larger than the ES or SE, and the transmission comes standard with INVECS-III CVT, which creates smoother transitions between gears and increases engine efficiency.
No matter which trim level you decide to go with, you’ll be getting an amazing car at an amazing price with the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage. Find the best deal possible on a Mirage over at Peruzzi Mitsubishi! Our experts can answer any questions you may have about the specific features of each trim level, and help you figure out which one would work best for you. Stop by today!
Electric vehicles continue to grow more and more popular each year, with US sales jumping by 37% in 2016. What was previously a niche item in the auto industry is gradually becoming more embraced by mainstream automakers such as Mitsubishi and Chevrolet, and therefore more affordable and accessible. How do these mainstream electric cars compare to one another, though? Let’s take a side-by-side look at two 2017 models – the Mitsubishi i-MiEV ES and the Chevrolet Bolt EV LT.
The 2017 Mitsubishi i-MiEV ES is by far the most affordable electric car currently on the market. At $22,995, it comes in at over $13,500 less than the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV LT, which has a base price MSRP of $36,620. Even with such a drastic difference in price, however, the 2017 i-MiEV still comes with a stronger warranty – anti-corrosion coverage for 84 months, 12 months longer than Chevrolet offers for the 2017 Bolt EV LT.
Both halogen headlights and front foglights come standard on the i-MiEV ES, as well as other safety features such as a height adjustable front seat belts and limited slip differential. However, none of these features are even options if you go with a 2017 Bolt EV LT. The same goes for a number of interior features, including manual air conditioning, navigation system, MP3 player, CD player or even radio. All of these features come standard with the 2017 i-MiEV ES, but are unavailable for the new Bolt EV LT.
Electric cars are only going to become more commonplace as the years go by. Why not start driving one now? With its low price, top warranty, and great interior and safety features, the 2017 Mitsubishi i-MiEV ES is a perfect starting point. Come visit us at Peruzzi Mitsubishi and take a text drive of the 2017 i-MiEV ES, or any Mitsubishi vehicle for that matter. You just might find your next car with us!
Mitsubishi Unveils 2018 Outlander Sport
Even though the Outlander Sport is already Mitsubishi’s top selling model, the recently unveiled 2018 model is sure to cement its place on top for years and years to come. Debuting at last month’s New York International Auto Show, the 2018 model of this sleek crossover SUV includes exciting upgrades inside and out, from its entertainment system to its safety features. If you weren’t a huge fan of the Outlander Sport already, the 2018 model will turn you into one.
The new Outlander Sport comes with one of two powertrain options – the standard 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque, or the beefed up 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine with 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. Along the outside are new front and rear bumpers designed with off-roading in mind, as well as LED daytime running lights. Inside the vehicle, you get a new infotainment system featuring a larger display screen and, more importantly, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity systems, which make smartphone use on the road simpler and safer than ever.
The optional Touring Package for the Outlander Sport, however, is where the new features of the 2018 model truly shine. Along with a panoramic roof and improvements in noise, vibration, and harshness for more peaceful driving, the Touring Package also includes advanced safety and driver assistance technology. Automatic high beam headlights, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and a rear camera all ensure the safest possible driving experience.
The 2018 Outlander Sport is expected to hit Mitsubishi lots this fall, and you can be sure to find one here at Peruzzi Mitsubishi. However, if you want to get your hands on one of the previous Outlander models, we have plenty of those in stock today. You can find a new 2017 Outlander Sport for as low as $17,530, or a pre-owned 2014 model for as low as $13,499! In fact, more than half of our new vehicle inventory consists of Outlander Sports, so you’ll certainly find the right one here at Peruzzi Mitsubishi. We look forward to seeing you!
As we explored in our last blog post, Mitsubishi Motors is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. In celebration of this remarkable milestone, Mitsubishi is embarking on quite an unusual yet exciting project – a plug-in hybrid version of the 1917 Model A, the very first car that Mitsubishi ever produced. With the help of West Coast Customs, the California auto shop made famous on the MTV series Pimp My Ride, Mitsubishi is hoping to bring this 20th century relic towards the cutting edge of 21st century automotive technology.
While the updated Model A will physically resemble the original 1917 version, its platform will be based on the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), which itself is not yet available in the United States. The original Model A ran on a 2.8 liter, 4-cylinder engine with just 35 horsepower, but the new PHEV engine comes to 119 horsepower and will include two electric motors and a 12-kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery pack. These two motors will give the vehicle a smooth four-wheel drive, with one motor powering the front wheels while the other powers the back.
Despite its distinction as Mitsubishi’s first production car, the Model A wasn’t particularly successful when it first came out 100 years ago – in fact, only 22 were built between 1917 and 1921, including prototypes. Hopefully Mitsubishi will get the opportunity to make at least a few more once this PHEV version is completed, which is expected to be sometime this summer.
We may not have the Model A PHEV quite yet, but in the meantime you should stop by Peruzzi Mitsubishi and check out some of Mitsubishi’s other exciting vehicles. We have an incredible selection of both new and certified pre-owned Mitsubishi vehicles in stock, such as the 2017 Outlander or the 2015 Lancer Evolution. Stop by today and find the car of your dreams at a reasonable price!
